Render Each Layer.json (30.1 KB)
Name - Render Each Layer
Description -
This automation renders each enabled layer in the active composition to a separate video file into your selected custom folder, the default render format is AVI, with the output module preset set to “Lossless with Alpha”, make sure to change this preset to your favorite output module preset.
Additional Information -
By default it renders each layer as a loseless .avi file with alpha.
You can change it by typing the name of a different output module in the green line of the automation:
If you want to render images instead of video, you can change the duration of the composition to 1 frame, create a png sequence output module and then use it in the green line.
How great a script!
However, i got a problem that the seventh file after render will be the same with one of group of six.
Could you please tell me how to fix it. Thank you!
Hey @riconguyen ,
Thanks for reaching out, glad you liked the script!
Sounds like you’ve hit a weird bug where the seventh file ends up as a duplicate of one of the first six. I’ve run into similar issues myself, and honestly, I think it might be something on Adobe’s end.
So, I went ahead and reworked the automation to avoid this problem. Instead of rendering each layer one by one, this new version duplicates the comp, then turns on only the needed layer in each duplicate, so they all get set up to render in one go.
You can download the updated version here:

Let me know if this helps or if you’re still having issues!
Thanks,
Alon
